Here is what I worked on over the weekend

YELLOW & ORANGE Layouts!
I just love these two colors- especially in the Spring time!!

This is a picture of me when I was a baby that my dad took. His big hobby was photography when I was little and he even had a darkroom set up in our apartment! I have always really loved this picture!!

This is my darling baby sister, Ginnie & Me in St. Augustine, FL. last month. I went home to Jacksonville to visit my family & me & my 2 sisters spent a day in St. Augustine. We had so much FUN together!!

The World of Altered Items...

....ok, so I am not the best at altering items. I love to make scrapbook pages! A lot of these DT calls want an altered item as well as LO's. So I got out all my stuff and went to work on a cigar box purse! These are very cool to me, and even though I probably will not ever use it as a purse, it will look cool in my scrap room (the one I don't have yet, but that I am campaigning for!)
here are the results:

Well it is Monday!

It is Monday... again! Today is a rainy overcast day here in Mayville, ND. We even had some thunder earlier! WOW! I haven't experienced a thunder storm since last summer. I love rainy afternoons, but until the last couple of weeks or so, we have only had snow since last fall. I am happy it is FINALLY Spring here!!

I am still applying for DT spots. I have entered a couple different "reality show" type contests. They present challenges every week and then there is an elimination. I think it will be really fun and hopefully I will get a lot of pages done using items that aren't in my comfort zone!

This past week I had to create a LO using 3 photos, paint & hand stitching.
I really had fun with this one! Here are the results:

For the same contest, I also had to create a LO based on a sketch.
Here is my interpretation of it:

I was actually pretty surprised to hear that 6 people dropped out between round 1 & 2! I guess maybe it was just too big of a commitment? hmmm. anyway- it will be interesting to see how far I can go. This week the challenge asks us to use fabric on a LO- this is a challenge for me! I have not done this in years.

Anyway- Happy Monday all... and as usual... Happy Scrapping!! :)

"THE Layout"

Ok Sandra! LOL now that the contest is over- I will post the LO I did not like ;)

Let me say-- several people told me they liked it- the reason I do not like it is because it is not my style. I know everyone knows what I mean when I say that sometimes you don't like the page you make- even if there is nothing wrong with it- you just don't like it for some reason- and it just doesn't fit your style. Well that is how I feel about this Layout.

I like the peep! I created it out of cardstock, chalked the details and then covered the whole thing with "glitter glaze" by Lil Davis Design. I used the paper included in the April Kit from Photobucket

thanks for looking!

SHEEEEESH

today was stressful. I had to complete a layout based on a sketch for a design team call. I finished before dinner and I was VERY happy with the results.... then I realized I did the wrong sketch! ARRRRGGHH! The sketch I completed was not due until next week!! I scrambled to get a second design done before the deadline, but I ended up too stressed out to create something I think is good enough. I was not happy at all with the way the page turned out! Moral of the story? DO NOT SCRAP UNDER STRESS! NOTHING GOOD CAN COME OF IT!!

gallery

I spent most of today creating an online gallery and uploading my pages into it. whew! what a lot of work!! I spent a lot of time actually looking at my pages today while I was uploading and writing descriptions, and I realized that my scrapping style changes constantly- the pages I have made in the last couple months, are a completely different style than the pages I made last fall. For that matter, the pages I made in March are different than the pages I was making in January. It is funny to me that my style constantly evolves- even after 10 years of scrapping. Thank Goodness the industry evolves too- when I started, there was only Creative Memories and Mrs. Grossman's stickers!! Can you imagine what scrapbooking will be like in another 10 years? I hope I don't look back on the pages that I love today and hate them like I do the pages I made in the beginning!

My Product Pick For This Week

I have a habit of getting "stuck" using some products over and over again. They aren't necessarily the newest products on the market- but for some reason I connect with them and really enjoy using them on my layouts. In fact, my layouts feel naked without them!!

I am really into CHIPBOARD lately. It is so versatile and fun to use! Whether it be letters, numbers, flowers or flourishes... I love it all!! I usually cover chipboard with coordinating papers or I paint them. You can ink them, distress them, sand the edges... whatever the layout calls for!
My favorites to use right now would have to be FANCY PANTS DESIGNS & THICKERS by American Crafts.

Fancy Pants has these great flourishes that I love to use on my layouts. I love to paint them and add glossy accent, for a shine. They also have a variety of flowers, alphabets and plenty of other great chipboard to choose from! I find that I tend to use at least one element of Fancy Pants chipboard on every layout I make right now.

I think that THICKERS have probably been out there for awhile, but I found them for the first time about a month ago. Since then, I use them regularly! They come in a huge variety of colors, textures and fonts! They are the perfect size for titles and/or subtitles on your layouts!! Try them out if you haven't already :)

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog!
I have decided this year to go after some of my scrapbooking goals. For 10 years I have dreamt of having one of my pages published. It is time to stop dreaming!
Along the way, I have discovered the online scrapbook world. Unbelievably, I never realized how much is out there! I found a website that notifies people of design calls: page submissions, design team availability etc. I never even knew what a design team was until recently! (crazy!) It sounds really interesting and I am going to pursue this...

So I am taking a deep breath, a huge step and I am going to apply for some Design Teams-
and see if I have what it takes! Wish me luck!!
